From the supplier: Research done by A. Schallamach on rubber wear lead to the development of modern wear models for determining pattern formation and fatigue crack growth. A wear test is described using a modified blade abrader making contact with a rotating rubber wheel. Four rubber tread compounds were used and the test determined that the direction that the crack propagates is determined by the mechanical properties of the rubber, the machine parameters and the test conditions.
